ICAA Chapter Awards: Upcoming and Recently Announced

Chicago-Midwest
ACANTHUS AWARDS, NOVEMBER 15, 2014

The Chicago-Midwest Chapter is pleased to announce the 2014 Acanthus Awards. These awards recognize and promote excellence in Classical and Vernacular design. They recognize achievement in architecture, interior design, preservation & restoration, landscape design, the allied arts & craftsmanship, and unbuilt work, along with an award for outstanding student work.

Submissions period closed as of August 15, 2014. 2015 deadlines and dates to be announced.


Florida
ADDISON MIZNER MEDAL, OCTOBER 11, 2014

The Florida Chapter is pleased to announce the annual Addison Mizner Medal for Excellence in Classical and Traditional Architecture. The awards program is intended to celebrate individuals and design firms who excel in the advancement and promotion of the ideals of classicism and traditional design in architecture, urbanism and the allied arts.

Submissions period closed as of April 1, 2014. 2015 deadlines and dates to be announced.


New England
BULFINCH AWARDS, NOVEMBER 12, 2014
The New England Chapter is pleased to announce its fifth annual Bulfinch Awards. The award is named for Charles Bulfinch, America’s first native-born architect, and designer of the Massachusetts State House. The award recognizes the best work of individuals who contribute to the creation of classical and traditional architecture in New England.

Submission period is closed. 2015 deadlines and dates to be announced.


New York
STANFORD WHITE AWARDS, DECEMBER 3, 2014
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art announces the second annual Stanford White Awards for Excellence in Classical and Traditional Design to be held at the Highline Hotel. These awards recognize achievement in individual projects in architecture, interiors, landscape, urbanism, and building craftsmanship & artisanship throughout New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The awards program is named in honor of Stanford White (1853-1906), of the distinguished New York firm McKim, Mead & White, whose legacy of design excellence and creativity in architecture and the related arts continues to serve as a source of inspiration and delight.

Submissions due October 27, 2014.


Northern California
JULIA MORGAN AWARDS, JUNE 12, 2014
In celebration of their 10th anniversary, the Northern California Chapter held the inaugural Julia Morgan Awards last June. The Chapter established these awards to recognize architects and designers, artisans, students and patrons on a local level for their excellence in the contemporary practice and support of the classical traditions.

Rocky Mountain
ROBERT & JUDI NEWMAN AWARDS, SEPTEMBER 17, 2014
Presented by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ICAA, the first annual Robert & Judi Newman Awards for Excellence in Classical and Traditional Design recognized achievement in: Architecture, Interiors, Landscape Design, History & Journalism, and Artisanship. A Student Award was also presented.

Southeast
PHILIP TRAMMEL SHUTZE AWARDS, FEBRUARY 21, 2015
On February 21, 2015, the Southeast Chapter will celebrate the 2014 Shutze Awards. The Schutze Awards recognize the region’s finest practitioners of the classical design tradition. The awards were named for the internationally renowned, Atlanta architect Philip Trammell Shutze, who is revered as one of the twentieth century’s most devoted classicists.

Submissions due December 12, 2014.


Texas
JOHN STAUB AWARDS (BIENNIAL EVENT)
The John Staub Awards program recognizes Texas-based practitioners who are committed to promoting excellence in both classical and vernacular traditions.  Winners and nominees are architects, designers, and artisans who are dedicated to the promotion of these traditions in Texas. All eligible projects work toward further building on the incredible legacy of John Staub.
