Cast Hall News
The ICAA is delighted to announce that we are working on opening a new Cast Hall to house our incredible plaster cast collection and the Dick Reid Teaching collection. The Cast Hall will feature a rotating set of approximately 100 casts, highlights from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s seminal 19th-century collection and pieces from Dick Reid’s impressive personal collection, both of which were generously donated to the ICAA.
The Cast Hall will be housed on the 6th floor of the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen neo-classical landmark building at 20 West 44th Street, just above the ICAA headquarters. Seth Weine is designing the space, drawing inspiration from the beloved Sir John Soane’s Museum in London.
Once complete, the Cast Hall will be open to the public and will be an invaluable resource for artists, architects, and most importantly, students. In addition to being a classroom and exhibition space, the Cast Hall will be used for meetings and to display rotating exhibitions. The Cast Hall will edify the artistic development of countless individuals and restore the legacy and prominence of a crucial artistic training method.
